Sirius radio

Anyone else have trouble with their Sirius radio antenna? Mine had some caulk on top of it. I cleaned the caulk off the top but it still loses service and tells me to check antenna. Does the sides of antenna need to be cleaned also?

Hello,
is the area around the antenna clear as it faces the sky? no roof rack or overhang? Usually check the antenna means it is bad, pinched coax or bad connection at the receiver.

It's on roof. Nothing blocking it. May call dealer. Not real sure I want to keep Sirius anyway. Kinda expensive for the amount of time we use it.

I have my antenna under the mattress in the cab over and get pretty good reception. in the car and truck it's better, but the satellite service really doesn't like trees. I like not having it fixed in one spot so I can move it around for better reception when parked.

Also having the same problem. As in another post of mine, I was out in the country dry camping with no trees and a clear shot of the sky. The thing I like about having it work is that Sirius does broadcast one free channel which is nice to have when you can't get any other regular radio channels.

I had the same problem in my Chevy 4500 chassis The antenae cable plugs into a device under the dash on the passenger side of cab near the doghouse. The tip gets loose, just spread and it will stay in place

Call Sirius and have them refresh the signal. It usually works. The XM in my DRW went out over the weekend. They had to refresh it 3 times before it came back.

If you have online account you use to be able to send refresh signal from your account. Give it a try beats waiting on hold for 20 minutes for a representative

The radio is self diagnosing, it's telling you check antennae and that's what it means. The same thing was happening to me and I went to Best Buy and the tech there found the problem. A loose antenna wire connection. On the Chevy it's on the pass side, not sure where it enters in the Ford cab. Just spread the metal male connector and it will stay put

In my past experience depending on the type of antenna, water gets inside the antenna unit, And corrodes the connection inside the unit. had 2 antennas that this happen to.
Once I moved the antenna to inside my vehicle, place it on top of the dash board under the windshield, problem went away always had a good signal.
