Slide Gasket Issue

At the campsite this weekend I had an issue with the living room slide gasket on the side. After initially putting out the slide, half the gasket was still folded towards the inside. After moving the slide in and out another time or two more of it came out but i still had to get up to the top and pull the rest out. Once it was out, the bottom half was flush with the slide but the top half is now curled with no obvious way to get it back to it's shape. Is there anyway to make the gasket go back to it's original shape and also prevent this from happening again?

Thanks. That might be a good idea on how to prevent it from happening again in the future. Now I just need to figure out anyway to make the gasket return to it's normal shape otherwise it another warranty repair submission.
