Stabilizers up or down
We are newbies. First winter storing it. Its in the driveway. Should we have the stabilizers up or down or does it not matter? Thanks in advance!

It does not matter. Ours are always up except when camping or using the camper as a guest room.

I always leave them up when stored just in case you get a flat tire. If they are down the stabilizers are not made to handle weight of the camper. Just my 2 cents.

Besides what has been mentioned, stabilizers down over the winter provides a good ramp for critters to find their way into the unit.

Leave mine down. Have occasional heavy wind, hope they will help the unit from blowing over if a big gust hits it. Stored on Drive with slides in. Use Cab and dryer sheets so far no mice problems.

If you live in area that has frost in the winter, I would leave them up. Frost heaves could raise the ground under your jacks several inches resulting in possible frame twisting. My 2 cents worth.

Ok please don't laugh but I thought you would need the stabilizers down on a 5th wheel so the front don't tip over. Do you have the back ones up too?
Not new to camping but to a 5th wheel.

Stablizers and landing jacks are two different animals. You want the landing jacks down on a FW, but not the stabilizers if you are storing it.
We keep ours up unless we are using the camper as a spare room.

Mine is stored inside a heated garage. I keep the trailer leveled all the time. Keeps weight off the tires too.

I usually keep mine down. The reason I do it because I use the reefer in the RV to hold beverages. It is my understanding coach should be level when using the frig. Wishing everyone a happy 2017

You are right, the front landing gear has to be down, or you could not unhitch from your truck, could you?
They are talking about the rear stabilizers which are not designed to support much weight and neither is the frame where they are mounted. Damage and frame twisting results from too much weight being applied to the rear stabilizere, either from jacking the front while the rear are still down, or, as someone said, from a tire going flat. Neither will do your camper any good.
