Storage Door Lifts - YES!

On the 3051S there are two storage doors that open "up" The rest all open down. The two that open up can be difficult to handle. The one really BIG one has to be locked open in the clasp or you have to keep one hand on it or worse yet you rest it on your head.

The other one is the Electric/Wet Locker and it's under the big slide. If the slide's not out, no real worries but when the slide is out it becomes a one handed retrieval for anything inside.

So, I ordered up two gas struts to open and hold open both basement doors. I got them from Hatchlift.com and they cost about $42 each. I got a large for the big door and a small-slide model for the locker under the slide.

Installation took maybe an hour or so. Super easy.

Now you open the big door about half way and it springs up all the way and stays put. And the Slide lift has a detent at 45 degrees to stay open when the slide is out. Or if the slide isn't out it will move past the detent and hold the door open all the way.

Here's some photos - give it a try it works great. (The Slide photo was taken with the slide out hence the door held open at 45 degrees.)

Love it. I'm in hate with my front hatch because you have to hook it to a holder on the overhang of my fifth wheel any time that you want to use it. This seems like it would solve that nicely.

Nice.

The sabre side doors have struts, but not the front!

Just checked mine and the only one that opens up is the sewer valves lid. There is a clasp to hold it. Kinda dumb, the black tank flush attachment is behind the lid when open. How can you flush the black tank and work the valve?

Our Crusader has magnets to hold the door side storage door open up fully flat against side - it has struts on the driver side storage door to hold at 90 degree (bed slide above does not permit full up with magnets) and the front storage under bedroom has one of those unhandy latches - wish they had put magnets there too

Plus side...our storage doors DO NOT have that generic 751 key lock so not everyone can open them 😃

The gas spring lift is a good addition.

Our Sunseeker 3100 has a large door on each side of the pass through rear compartment. For reasons unknown to me, Forest River installed one with a top hinge and one with a side hinge, even though the doors are exactly the same size. A slide is not a factor on either side. The latest ones of the same model that I have seen are still that way.

Nice mod. What does it look like on the outside after installed? Do any of the mounting screws go all the way thru. Is there anything visible outside when the door is closed?

NO, nothing shows. Pop rivets hold perfect in doors, brackets, door frames

No, those mounting plates are affixed with adhesive (included) and then the screws are pretty short. Nothing shows.

Nope, I just installed them Sunday - I don't think wind will be a problem. I do plan to use the door latches when driving. If that's what you mean.
