The storage compartment is underneath the mattress. You lift the mattress and the base it sits on up and it will have two separate compartments underneath there.
We had a 3170 that had storage under the bed that went down to the floor. Had a large amount of storage. We now have a 3010 that has storage, but I'm guessing maybe 6 or 8" high.
We have a 2015 forester,it has 2 very small compartments under the bed but impossible for 1 person to hold up that piece of plywood and store a few rolls of toilet paper at same time...I put some hangers in the other small space
