Sunseeker vs Forester

Looking at the 3170DS vs 3171DS.

What are the differences? I noticed on the spec sheet that the tanks are bigger in the Sunseeker. Have also heard about recess lighting, the vinyl cieling, and the security light. Any other major differences?

Thanks

Sunseeker now has the outside shower as standard too (per the most recent brochure).

The biggest concern in a class C is the amount of weight you can carry. The 3170 can carry 250 pounds more than the 3171. Now included in the weight is water, grey water, black water, propane and gasoline in addition to the normal things we think of which include food, clothing, toilet articles, passingers. Think of the weight as 29.94 gallons of fresh water.

The Forester adds a lot of goodies for a small premium (once you've negotiated prices). The Forester model adds basically all the things they charge extra for in the Sunseeker and some you can't get (like the soft touch ceiling and the flush mounted lighting).

We bought ours from Terrytown in Michigan after looking all over New England. I paid the same for a fully loaded Forester from Michigan as the local NH dealer wanted for stripped Sunseekers.

Also trying to decide between 3170DS vs. 3171DS!

Regarding the 2012 models, it looks like the Forester 3171DS has smaller Grey/Black tanks than the Sunseeker 3170DS. (30 vs. 39).

Is this true? If so, why?

Also, what will be the differences between the two models for 2013?

Thanks for the help!

plumber - You might want to go to the Sunseeker board & read through a post I put up there entitled "Tank Sizes Now Larger?" (it's currently on the first page toward the bottom). There might be some info there that will help you. I am wondering if you are seeing '12 specs as I would assume all '13s including both Sunseeker & Forester have the 39 g tanks.

paulmlac,

I got the 39/30 numbers off of the FR website for the 2012 models. That's why I was confused. It appears that the Sunseeker has 39gals and the Forester has 30gals for 2012 according to the website. Just wanted to be sure as I will choose the 2012 Sunseeker if those numbers are accurate.

Thanks!

We switched them both over at the same time. Some of the Forester data updates are lagging behind. Specs on both are the same.

I just purchased a brand new 2013 Forester 3121DS, I take delivery this coming Friday. The 2013 Forester has a 44 gallon fresh water tank onboard. The grey and black tanks both hold 39 gallons each. Also, on 2013 model the black tank has a spray cleaner built inside of the tank.

I love it when a plan comes together.

Just a side note, the black tank flush was part of a package that we were offering. We also offer it as a stand alone option...but just in case we stop offering the package, don't assume its now a standard feature.

Also, when comparing other brands, our fresh water DOES NOT include the water heater that most other mfg's include in their totals.

Should have 39 & 39. But look at the tank size if possible to confirm.
