Switch under left side of drivers seat

Is this switch used to start Chevy cab with house batteries and if so ,how?

It starts Fords too. You push the button and turn the ignition key.

The reason I ask is that I had it detached when I removed the seat and not sure I rewired it right. Is the hot wire on the bottom or on the top when you close the contact?

Dont know how yours was wired. They are not the same model to model or even year to year same model. I suggest a meter to find out.

If there are only 2 contacts on the switch wire position does not matter. The switch provides a connection between the 2 wires when held depressed.
When you activate the switch (with engine off and shore/generator power off) you should hear a clunking sound coming from your battery control center, itís typically in the stairwell on a forester.
