Thinking about a 2008 Forest River Forester 2941DS

Hello Everyone,

I am seriously considering a private party purchase of a "2008 Forest River Forester 2941DS." Can anyone give me any advise/input, good or bad?

I have owned a couple of Fleetwood travel trailers in the past but never a Forest River Class C motorhome.

Thanks in advance for any help,

John

Hi John,
Can't help you much but I moved your thread to the forester forum for more specific help from owners.

Good luck and

Welcome to the forum.
as I cant answer specifics to the model you are looking at but can give general info to assist

because you would be the 2nd owner - forest river doesnt give you any warranty.
depending on the chassis and engine manufacture you might thru them but not forest river.

check the front top section out and lift up the beds to see if any wood looks wet or a diffrent shade to it to see if there were any water leaks and check the caulking around the outside for cracks or there are any bubbles in the fiberglass.

this is what I would do if I was looking around for another trailer especially used - I bought a brand new trailer for warranty and piece of mind - I know not everyone can afford a new trailer

I am looking to save $$$ in buying a gently used newer Class C motorhome. This particular rig is priced at $25K below NADA suggested retail price. Top that off with the $$$ that the owner has put into it himself, and I'm looking at $40K in reduced price.

Leaks are always a major concern and if I were to purchase this rig I would take it to an RV mechanical Pro & Ford mechanical Pro to give me their expert opinion on the overall condition of the RV.

How does Forest River stack up against Fleetwood? I have owned 2 Fleetwood travel trailers in the past and had zero problems with either of them.

my parents have owned a few diffrent models, this is my first Forest River product, which is a travel trailer and doesnt compare to a Class C.
I am very happy with my trailer and you will get mixed reviews on this cause each person has had diffrent experiences with service.

Good luck and look it over really well cause if there is any water leaks you should be able to se signs of it and if there is any mold - dont walk away - run away lol

I would have them plug it in and check everything out and also hook up water, look at the water filter and see what it looks like
check the engine oil and trans fluid
look thru some of the threads specific to the model you are looking at to see what problems or issues you can avoid by knowing before you go to look

When we were shopping for a MH three years ago we looked at a couple of Foresters on the E460 Ford chassis. They were both 31-footers, but my concern would apply even to a slightly shorter one.

Look very carefully at the tail overhang, and if you can get the owner to let you weigh it, see if you can measure the weight on the rear axle. We did that during a test drive and I was amazed at how close to the axle load limit the thing was, even with just two of us on board and no water or waste tank contents.

I was also concerned about the effect of tail swing on a four-down toad. Although we loved the interior layout, we decided against buying one and got a Georgetown Class A instead.

Thanks for the information. Your comment made me think about how important a warranty is.
