That wasn't what broke mine. Poor assembly and taking showers caused it it brake. Threads were stripped and broke off.

Any way to stop the water from splashing out of the shower p-trap when driving?

Put a wet wash cloth on top of the drain cover.

Trip to hardware store for an old fashion drain plug. Use it when bathing GK's. I think 1-1/4"
