U-dinette converted bed fix.

For any of you that have a u-dinette and have encountered cushions moving and "hole" problem, I found an interesting youtube that demonstrates a creative fix. Just thought I'd share.

Nice fix. I used simple straps to keep my cushions in place. Allot easier to store.

Funny the different ways you can come up with. We take that whole cushion array and spin it 180°, which places the narrow cushion against the wall. The rest stay put.

He could have used that same piece of cherry on the outside and 2x4 underneath and just screwed them together, then put in a 2x4 leg in the middle of them and slid it under the outer edge of the table. Then he wouldn't need to store that monster piece of 3/4" plywood, just the piece of cherry/2x4 and the 2x4 leg.

Easier still and works perfect is ..... I use the rubbery mat material that you can use in your cupboards to keep dishes from sliding around. They make it in a wide huge roll and I cut and now those cushions do not slide at all. I wanted the u-dinette and then after I got it I hate it. So we use it as a wide couch full time with the rubber piece in and it never slides. Much nicer as a big lounge comfortable couch!

The extra weight of the plywood was my first thought, plus it is big and bulky to store.

It did point out how dirty those cushion covers can get. There was a very noticeable change in color when he took those back cushions off.

This is why we're vacillating between the 2501TS and the 3011 because with the 2501TS the u-dinette is the only place to lounge, but the 3011 you at least get the sofa plus dinette. When I finally got to sit at the u-dinette I also agree it wasn't all that comfortable, and if you wanted to add in another couple it doesn't seem doable. I can't imagine lounging on the u-dinette and watching tv, but yet the length of the 3011 is more than what I wanted to deal with. Decisions, decisions!

We also added an egg crate bed foam cut to size.

I added a 2X3 leg. Fits in the floor plate like the table leg and rests the edge of the metal plate in the table.

The underside of the table top I believe should have Velcro on it,,, so it can't slide,,, we also use the rubber no slip material under the cushions !!! That material can be used for soooo many things,,, we keep a small pic in the kitchen for removing jar lids,,, and a pic to keep our plastic cutting board from sliding on the counter !!!

I am not sure who you are asking how a big a boy are you ???
I do not sleep on our dinette,,, the DW does !!!
But if you must know I am over 6 foot & also over #280 !!!
