Vinyl soft-touch ceiling, better or worse

Hi, wife and I will be ordering a Forester or Sunseeker in the coming weeks.

The only option that has me wondering about is the vinyl soft-touch ceiling that Forester has as an "upgrade", not much talk about it specifically in the forums that I could find.

Has anyone had any issues with the soft vinyl material that they could share? ie. coming apart, easily tearing, staining, tough to clean, etc...

are there any real pros or cons of the soft-touch ceiling vs the hard ceiling on the Sunseeker?...or is it just not much of an upgrade to warrant additional consideration.

I have a soft-touch ceiling in my Aviator. I like it. It looks nice and seems to have some sound insulation properties. I have had no trouble of any kind with it.

Overall I like the soft ceiling in my 2015 Forester, I have had one seam (with hard trim) come loose, as the material was cut too short. I am trying to have it fixed under warranty. JH

I have it in my Berkshire. Looks nice but cannot paint it if it gets soiled in the future. My parents had an Airstream that they painted the inside walls. It made the TT look new. Would be nice to have that option as wife is a smoker. I do wash it every spring. Surprising how dirty the water gets.

I didn't know it's an option in the Forester now, it was standard in my 2012, along with the fancier recessed lights. I'm very happy with it.

No problems with the ceiling it's self, however, IF, you have a roof or seam leak, you may not notice it for quite some time, as the soft ceiling will hide it more than a normal ceiling.

I had a soft ceiling in my Damon Intruder. It was included. Looks great and has some sound/insulating qualities but watch how you wash it. Water and mild soap with a soft cloth. No excessive rubbing. Would I pay for it as an option - probably not.

We had a soft touch ceiling on our Newmar MH. I really liked it. Easy to clean.
Adds more insulation.

We have a 2014 Forester 3171 DS with the soft ceiling and we really enjoy not having the tin can sound and feeling.

Soft touch on my 3051s, really helps muffle the rain on the roof sound. Also find it easy to clean.
