Water Issue

When my coach is connected to city water on occasion I find that it will fill up and overflow my fresh water tank. The issue must be a check valve somewhere probably in the water pump. I assume that the city water pressure (I do have a pressure regulator) is backing up thru my water pump into the fresh water tank. Does this diagnosis sound correct? If that's the case is the simple fix just installing a check valve after the water pump?
Thanks
John

You're correct, it's the check valve. Pretty common problem.

First, shut off city water, turn on your water pump and run FW tank water through it for a minute or two. Then go back to city water.

The check valves often get something in them or get mis-aligned.

If the above doesn't work, you'll need to replace the valve.

Thanks for the reply. So the check valve is inside the water pump?

The check valve should be on the outlet side of your pump

Mine is on the inside of the pump head. I've had to take it apart to unstick it 2x.

I agree, I did not mean to imply the check valve was external stand alone device, however that might be a better system

This is why I like this forum. Just a couple of days ago I was at Yellowstone and had the same thing happen to me for the first time. I assumed it was a check valve but wasn't sure and didn't know we're to look for it. Great information.
