water pump cycles when no water demand
My water pump cycles intermittently when no water is being used. It is not frequent and i have been assuming that it is just maintaining pressure, but i read somewhere today that it should not cycle at all if no water is being used. Should I be concerned that I have a water leak?

Your water pump should not cycle unless there is a demand against it! You might check for a leaks that is causing the pump to see a demand and turn on. A leaky toilet or a water line leaking somewhere...

Mine did that and it was a water leak hidden behind the water controls panel. If I left it on long enough, eventually I would see water start to pool on the bottom of the water bay.

Some time the one way valve in the pump will leak back into the fresh water tank as well.

Yep better check for a leak. Pump won't come on unless it's loosing pressure so you have a leak somewhere.

can't find leak
It occurs to me that maybe the ice maker is causing the pump to run. I got the RV out of storage and looked under the frig, sink, and bed and can't find any water. I also went under the rig but see now water seepage. If something is behind an area that i can't get to I have no idea if i'm leaking but am not find any water inside the rig.
When i got it out of storage i turned the pump on (thinking that if i had a leak the pump would immediately come on to refill what leaked while in storage, 3 days now). The pump did not come on except for a split second cycle when i turned on the power.
Is this wishful thinking?

I have a 3051 like you. My water pump does come on intermittently to refill the ice maker. That is if I am plugged in to shore power or running the generator. As I understand, the ice maker will not make ice if boon docking.

Thanks to all who responded. this forum is fantastic for newbies like me. I"m going to continue watching for a leak but hope for now that it is the icemaker operation i hear.

If there's "to much" head space in the wh the pump will run like you say.
How do you bleed the air from the wh?

Water Pump Cycles When No Water Demand
I had a similar problem with my Hybrid Trailer. Sometimes the check valve for the city water is not sealing off properly. What I have done because it was all I had is screw in a "Y" valve with shutoffs. That solved it until I can reset the check valve. This can be done sometimes by just hooking up to city water. Another time my low point valve was dripping slightly. Fixed that and all has been good. I hope one of these works for you.

Water Pump Check Valve Leak
The check valve on the water pump had a small piece of debris in it so the fresh water tank filled up over the course of ten days when the city water was hooked up to the coach in our new FR3 30 DS.

Our water pump cycles now and then due to changes in water heater temperature, e.g. when it's off at night and hot water cools down thus losing pressure. I also found that the pop-off valve on the water heater leaked now and then causing the pump to run. I replaced the pop-off valve and solved that problem.

You have a leak somewhere.
Look around for small water puddles, all the plumbing and around the water heater.
You could also have a pump that is leaking internally (pressure side leaking back to the suction side) but these are rare.

I am on my 5th camper and in every one of them the pump has run for a second or so a couple or so times a day. I would say that this is normal. Of course if this happens a lot you should check for leaks.

I chased this problem off and on for a few years in my previous trailer. It would cycle for a while then it was of for a few trips, then it would cycle again. I finally discovered that the city water check valve would not seal sometimes. I replaced it and the problem went away for good
