We tow 4 down a 2014 Honda CRV AWD. When looking for a "best" toad for me, I went to Consumers Report on cars/SUV's. I picked Honda for reliability and resale value over many others. JMHO.

After hemming and Hawwing over a Rubicon we ended up with a Diesel 4x4 Jeep Grand Cherokee. weighs a little more than the wrangler but with the comfort, panoramic moonroof and gas mileage we decided it would fit our needs best. blue ox tow bar, patriot brake system.

We chose a Subaru Outback with a 6-spd. No fuses to pull or anything like that, just make sure it is in neutral.

We like it because we can hit up some fire roads, It fits the wife and 3 kids just fine, it is light at 3500 lbs., gets over 20 mpg, and is much cheaper than a Jeep. I would have chosen the Jeep except they still want 20K for a TJ with 250K miles on it.

Ideal for us turned out to be GMC Acadia. Put it in neutral and idle for 5 mins during fuel stops. RVi3 for brakes.
