When built?

I am hoping someone at FR can tell me when these two units were built.

I will most likely buy one of them next week, but would appreciate more info.

Many thanks.

It's all in the VIN number. hold on and I will get you a chart and edit this post.

Look at the 10th place value of the VIN, and then match it to the chart to tell the model year assigned by the factory.

It appears both are going to be 2016 (or 1986 if an older unit) model year with a G.

That information would be internal to Forest River. You could take the last numbers of the VIN, which is a production run number. You would have to contact the factory that built it. and see if they would share that information with you as to the exact date it was built.

Hold on a sec and I may be able to find you a Forest River VIN sheet, that shows the factory codes in the VIN. I know I have posted it before.

1FD seems to be a Ford VIN. Are you giving Ford Chassis VIN's and not the actual Forest River completed unit VIN (like on a Class A or C motorhome)?

If so, this thread may help. Read Bclemens post #10.

http://www.forestriverforums.com/for...sue-82002.html

The chassis VIN only indicates the model year of the chassis that was made by Ford. It does not indicate when the rest of the motorhome (aka box) was put on it by Forest River.

Look on the driver's door jamb. There should be a Ford sticker and a Forest River sticker. Both give the respective dates of manufacture. Our Sunseeker's Ford sticker lists "06/10" and the Forest River sticker lists "8/27/2010".

There you go. RamblerGuy got you fixed up if it's a Class C. A class A may not be so easy.

Thanks again for the info. Yes those were both 2016 Ford VIN numbers. I just got the FR serial numbers and they are:

FRF034433
FRF033990

I am hoping to get the build dates before I get to the dealer on Tues.

Ask the dealer for a Car Fax. Ours provided a complete history of the frame and the build. Not exactly down to te month but we know that our 2004 Georgetown chassis build started in 2002 but is a 2003 chassis because that is when it went to FR. Not exact, but it narrows the window.

If they are new units the Certificate of Origin has the build date on it. I have a copy of mine. It was issued by Forest River on Oct 1, 2014. That is considered the build date.

Yep, my 2015 was built in 2014. Pretty common for early model year units. My 2013 trailer was also built in 2012

Many Thanks Joshua, that is the info I needed.

One other question, when did FR and/or Ford finalize the driveshaft fix and/or Moreride fix?

I just want to be sure the August chassis has all the proper fixes etc.

The problem was with the 2016 chassis with the 6 speed transmission. Forest River and Ford (actually all class C builders) were on top of the problem and all units were properly setup and verified by Ford before any FR units were shipped to customers. Mine was in the first batch of 2016's and it's as smooth as silk.

Thanks Jim!
If you see a coach on the ground at a dealer it has been fixed. We didn't let a coach leave our facility without being looked at and fixed.

Inside drivers door I found 2 stickers, 1 for the Ford Chassis and 1 for the Forester build. Mine were on the frame nearest the coach.
