Took our 2013 3011DS out this weekend after a month of sitting. Things went great until we pulled in, leveled off, and started pushing out the slides. The main slide cocked on us with the bottom sliding out and the top moving out a few inches and stopping. The wife slid it back in and tried a second time with the same results so I had her retract it and climbed up on the roof to see what was causing the bind. The short of it is that there is a small hammer / knob shaped guard at the front of the slide awning that seems to act as a guard when going down the road. That, or it's a counter weight. I'll call it a counterweight. Well the counterweight had worked itself loose and jammed up the awning. Looking at the counterweight, there are three holes for screws but two were untapped. The thing clamped on to the awning really tightly but I managed to coax it back into place without causing any additional damage. Afterwards the slide moved freely. Now to the questions.

1. Shouldn't the other two holes be tapped and set screws installed into this counterweight?

2. The slide was cocked enough to work the lower trim board below the dinette and couch loose. Getting the trim board back in place was easy. I'm worried that there was some damage to the mechanism. Is there something I can check myself before saddling up and driving two hours to the dealer?

That thing is called an anti-bellow device I think. Either way it is supposed to hit the stop on the sidewall to prevent unrolling going down the road, should a spring break or something. Mine only has 1 screw securing it. You could probably add another if you want. As for the slide, if be willing to bet you're ok since it functioned fine. Digging into, or should I say accessing the drive shaft, gear box and motor is a REAL pain on the above floor slides, at least mine is. I had battle scars from adjusting ours. Not a friendly set up.

It is an anti billow devise for the toppers as Bigjohn said. Never looked at mine until I saw an earlier post here from someone with problems. Mine also only had one screw installed (should be two per manufacturer instructions) so they bent but did not prevent the slides from extending. They should be adjusted and set to point about straight up when the slide is retracted. I fixed and adjusted properly.
