Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta

We are going to the Balloon hoopla this year and have just booked RV spot in Premium RV site. We are also on wait list for Presidents Compound RV site. It is significantly more costly. However, the rep I talked to for the Fiesta says the Presidents Compound is worth it.

This is our first time at Balloon hoopla and would not mind paying more IF it is really worth it.

Has anyone attended and have thoughts, they would be appreciated.

Thank you,
Dale

Dirt field with 30 amp electric and water. Hope it doesn't rain because it get slick out there. Hope you get the Presidents Compound.
Here are a few shot from the premium campground area.

its great

We just did 3 weeks traveling that way and 5 of them were there at the Balloon Festival. We did 4 days at the VIP West and then 1 day at the Presidential. This was our first time to the festival and didn’t know what to expect. We went on the wait list for the Presidential for the other 4 days but we never got them. VIP West was fantastic and with a handicap placard they put us in the front row. This put us directly behind the sponsors tents, very easy walking distance. They have water trucks and sewer trucks that come around for money. Most people are very courteous with their generators but the festival turns on their 200 generators and lights at 4am tell light and then again at dark tell around midnight.
VIP was fantastic and well worth not fighting the traffic and if we do it again (in 5 years) it will be VIP West with a morning walk up to Presidential for pictures.
The Presidential was fantastic too, you get water and electric and if you do 4 days or more you get free sewer trucks. There is no front row available because all the sponsors get them. But, and this a beautiful but, there is a small green-band along the edge of the bluff with a few picnic tables that over look the entire balloon grounds. Even if you don’t stay in the Presidential it worth going up there to see/picture at least one morning of Dawn Patrol and one evening of After Glow and fireworks.
Its unbelievable how many people show up at 4:30am for a green breakfast burrito and balloons. Getting up close to the balloons is spectacular and leaves you a little awestruck. Now getting up on the Presidential bluff lets you “see the forest threw the trees” and you real see how big this thing is.
Have fun
John
