Anyone know of good boondock spots in AZ?

I usually go camping up by the Mogillian Rim in Payson. Been doing this for years now and i just got a new A-Frame and want to venture out a bit more.

Does anyone know of any good spots in Az other than the Payson area? I like boondocking, summer or winter. Winter's coming up so I'd love to take my new camper out somewhere nice.

The Rim is my favorite spot to go. But forest road 300 usually gets closed about this time of year because of snow.
Try big lake area in summer. Take the road to reservation lake. Lots of secluded spots back there. It’s a good haul from Phoenix so not many people back there.
Up the I 17 stone man lake road turnoff head east. Lots of spots back there.
AZ is a wonderful place for boondocking. Take a dirt road. You’ll find a spot.

You might already know this and are looking for personal experiences, but for looking for boondocking spots, 2 websites come to mind:

http://freecampsites.net/

http://campendium.com/

Otherwise, we haven't boondocked in AZ. I know just over the Utah line, friends camped on Wahweap Lake on the beach.

Hi,

Lots of free and/or low cost BLM camping in the Yuma and Quartzite areas.

FWIW.

we live in payson and there are people all the time going out to state campgrounds (woods lake, diamond point) and also going to many boondocking sites off of az route 260 east of payson. when we go up to flagstaff we use lake mary road and there are many places where people of boondocking. but these are probably more summer sites as it can snow up there. (so far no snow, no rain, and record high temperatures so far this fall / winter). there are also many people boondocking along the southwest shore of Roosevelt lake.
