Canyonlands. There is a road from the mesa to the bottom of the canyon that goes to Moab by the ranger statstate park has pretty views of the canyon thanion in Canyonlands.

There are several areas around Moab for boondocking. I stayed at Archview RV park. It is convenient but sites are crowded and poorly laid out. My door opened next to the sewer drain on the next site. This is a very busy area so make reservations early.

Liked the the petrified Forest and painted desert. Takes 1/2 day to do both.

Metor Crater is close by. Interesting to learn about it. There is a nice campground the exit.

There is nothing to do in Winslow but stand on the corner.

If you have time Canyon de Chelly National Monument is interesting.

Lost the start of the post[emoji35]

Recommend Monument Valley for a overnight stay. Filmed several John Ford westerns there. Beautiful sunsets. If you have as tow vehicle can drive a dirt road through the park. Best done with a suv but folks did it in cars.

Dead Horse State Park had prettier views of the canyon than Canyonlands. Do your research on Canyonlands. It is a huge park with 4 different areas that are far apart.

Last summer we concluded a nearly 3-month trip through virtually all of the NP's west of Denver. I would suggest the following RV stops:

Holbrook, AZ KOA is very nice and easy access to Petrified Forest and Painted Desert.

Heading West, there is a very nice RV Park just off I-40 at the Meteor Crater. Highly recommend you see that.

Farther west we stay at Grand Canyon Railway RV Park in Williams and make easy day trips to South Rim.

At Zion NP, we stay at Zion River RV park near the south entrance. From there you can make easy day trips to GC North Rim, Bryce Canyon, and Cedar Breaks.

Heading back east into Utah, we stay at Shady Acres RV Park in Green River. Easy access to both Arches and Canyon Lands NP's. We don't like the hustle and bustle of Moab, although there are some great restaurants and micro-breweries there. While there, don't miss the drive along the Colorado River on SR 128 that heads northeast out of Moab to the I-40 east of Green River. If you are up to it, the hike to Delicate Arch is worth the pain. Did it last year at age 75.

Grand Junction. CO, is also a great stop. We stay at Junction West RV park nearest the Colorado National Monument, also worth a visit.

If you can fold in a trip to Durango, CO, stay at Alpen Rose RV north of town. Ride the train, but don't miss a day trip to Mesa Verde NP. Fantastic sights there, and amazing history of the legendary Pueblo people who lived there.

WOW! Great responses! Still going through all of them. I have a rough timeline now and wanted to get opinions:

Painted Desert/Petrified Forest - 3 nights
Grand Canyon South - 4 nights
Grand Canyon North - 1 night
Zion - 3 nights
Bryce - 3 nights
Moab - 4 nights

Considering combining Grand Canyon North and Zion, probably staying east of Zion so it probably would be doable. Once again everyone's suggestions have been great! Thanks!

Was waiting for someone else to mention this, but, if your route to the Grand Canyon takes you thru Flagstaff and you travel on Hwy. 89, take the Wupatki (National Monument) and Sunset Crater Loop rd. It'll add about two hours if you get out and look over some of the old structures built by the Ancient Ones. You can drive by if you want, but worth the slight detour for the experience. There is a nice USFS dry camp ground, Bonito, there as well.

When you do go, pay attention to the weather in/around Zion. Lately, nature is doing what nature does rain/flooding/slides and us pesky humans get upset if it affects them. They had another slide yesterday so a roadway is closed and several hiking trails.

Be aware and stay alive

Just to be aware, North Rim unlike South Rim is a long way from anywhere and it takes a long time to get there. (South Rim to North Rim is 200 miles.)

Kaibab CampeRVillage is a nice place to stay with FHU, also some dry sites. It’s actually pleasantly settled inside the Kaibab National Forest. But it’s not at Kaibab, AZ, it’s near Jacob Lake. Stop at the Kaibab Plateau Visitor Center for info and directions. There is also good food to be had at the Jacob Lake Inn next door. The “Village” gets you to within 44 miles of the North Rim Visitor Center, a fairly easy day’s trip. There is also camping inside the GCNP of course, if you can get a site, also very nice, but there are no hookups at all there.

Moab will get you to Arches and Canyonlands (a bit of a day drive but very doable as a very full day trip). Don’t overlook Capitol Reef National Park. That area is gorgeous! There’s a nearby campground, Wonderland RV Park in Torrey that can put you up on your way between Moab and Bryce/Zion.

In Moab, we stayed at Archview. It is north of town away from traffic. We stayed in the pull through sites beautiful sunrises over Arches NP. Very convenient to Arches and Canyonlands NP. As well as a don't miss, Dead Horse State park said to be more beautiful than Grand Canyon, I can't say never been to GC. Be sure to take a drive down 279 near the entrance to Arches NP, beautiful drive along the Colorado River. Also, if you're going through Denver on the way home, be sure to take 128 out of Moab, another awesome drive. Also, you might want to search posts by Busskipper, he's provided some great posts on this area. Also another member, but can't recall his name at this time.
