Lake Havasu
Cat Tail Cove is one of the best state parks we've stayed in.

Sandpoint is a private park right next to Cat Tail Cove SP towards the south end of Havasu. Haven't been there in years but certainly enjoyed it the many times we were there. Can accommodate just about any RV size. May can be an iffy month depending upon your lifestyle. The snowbirds are leaving or already gone and the summer party boaters are coming in.

We stumbled into Cat Tail Cove by accident and they had a vacancy in January a couple years ago. It was great. Most all the AZ state parks along there looked very nice.

We spent Jan & Feb in Davis Campground...fished the river..rode the Harleys...The only problem in this area is constant wind ! even with good stabilizers like sleepin on a boat ! Everyone there was there Oct to April...Had 3 anklebiters and " Fenced in their lots for the dogs ! Bullhead city seems one block wide and 15 miles of restaurants..car dealers hobby shopsGymns...you name it they got it. River is loaded with rental jet ski's. But the Camp is clean and well run...And BIG CASINOS RIGHT ACCROSS THE BRIDGE !

Havasu V Bullhead
We have snowbirded at the Beachcomber for the last 6 winters and really like it. Their daily rate was $55 for full hook ups last time we looked. We have never been there during April / May. If you prefer lake front stuff, Havasu is for you. If you prefer gambling oriented stuff, Bullhead City with it's proximity to Laughlin would be better. The wind is a crap shoot. My guestimate is it blows fairly hard, on average, about 2 days a week. However, some winters seemed much windier and some winters seemed much calmer... Happy travels!

Depending on whether you want to be near the casino's will spell out how close you want to be to Laughlin, NV. Anything on the Colorado is nice but further south in Lake Havasu they have two AZ state parks with very reasonable costs and good sites. I have stayed further down the river at Parker, AZ where Buckskin Mtn State park offers some FHU spots and numerous decent spots again at reasonable pricing. Even in May these places routinely get over 100 on any given day. We will be staying at Buckskin in January which without a reservation months out is difficult to get. Have fun and enjoy your visit.

I think the AHI in Laughlin has a koa in their golf course. Careful with havasu in April. Spring break is insane- the snow birds leave the last week in March at the latest.

Davis campground in Bullhead, right on river, full hookups or dry camp. Cat Tail Cove state park just south of Havasu, on the river, real nice but good idea to book ahead.
Bullhead can be very windy, to the point of putting rocks in your pockets to weigh yourself down.

We stayed at the AVI Casino KOA a month ago, and enjoyed it. It is a nice place with level gravel pads. We stayed next to the golf course, which has tall trees to shield some of the afternoon sun. The casino is about a block away, and has the usual specials for dinner and brunches. Laughlin has lots of things to do. For fuel and groceries, go across the Colorado to the Bullhead City area. When we were there, there was a dollar difference in a gallon of fuel. We would definitely stay there again.

I always have an empty or near empty fuel tank coming into Bullhead on way down south. Cruise the Bullhead strip, gas station on right side about a mile into strip (can't remember name). seems to have best price most of the time. Lots of carwash places also with easy access.
If just stopping for night there are a few casino parking lots that let you stay there. Never actually checked into it but see campers parked overnight.
