Cabin Fever - Flagstaff/Sedona

Hello all,

TT been in the shop since mid-September and after seeing all the pix of current travels, the bug set in. Wanting to take advantage of the 3-day weekend, I asked DW if she wanted to get away for the President's Day weekend. We decided to go to Flagstaff. Arrived Flagstaff mid-afternoon on Saturday and enjoyed the Lowell Observatory, followed by some real good local brews and dinner downtown.

Sunday we ventured down to Sedona via route 89A, and all I can say is WOW. The drive is well worth the trip, but I would not take the TT. The stretch of 3 miles downhill at 7% grade with narrow roads and hairpin turns would not be recommended.

The area around Sedona is absolutely gorgeous and will definitely go back again. Got back to Flagstaff via Rt. 179 to I17 north. There were a few roundabouts, but easily to get around.

The drive back home was a bit of crap due to a winter system that brought rain/snow and VERY strong winds, but overall DW and I really enjoyed our time away from home.

Safe and happy travels.

P.S. Will post pix soon

Sedona is beautiful and definitely on my list of places to go before ------

Interesting bit of trivia, Sedona (planning department) brags about how they were successful in forcing McDonald's to paint their arches a color other than "Gold". The "arches" at the Sedona Mc'D's are Green.

In developing a store for the Co I retired from, we were prevented from using ANY of our "corporate colors". Had to use a lot of "Sedona Red" on the building.
