Might be incorrect but I do. It just that more people in my circle tend to be familiar with Santa Barbara and not so much with Goleta.

If I come across a campground in the city I will be happy to share.

Edit:
Santa Barbara.com - Camping: Cachuma Lake

There are several campgrounds among the coast & some look to be close by but I didn't have much luck with finding them located in the "city". Maybe someone with more knowledge of the area will have the answer you are seeking.

Good luck! I've searched pretty thoroughly, and that overpriced parking lot 'Sunrise' is the only one in the city limits. We go there anyway, because of the world-class farmers market.

It wasn't originally me seeking, I was just trying to help a fellow traveler, but I've driven past that lake, and maybe I would appreciate a longer stay some day. Especially since Santa Barbara County still owes me some bucks from our last transaction.

I've never been to Sunrise or that lake so I have no clue what I would be missing but it doesn't sound like much. I have only stayed at El Capitan State Beach twice but I really like it because it has the beach and lots of trees.

Yeah, there is lot's of world class camping around there. I should have made it more clear that I go with a couple of boxers, so that limits my options.

Oh, OK. I was just guessing what your assessment of Lake Cachuma was based on. I've never been there, but am considering it.

California Frogs

Any one ever stayed at a Colorado River Adventure RV Resort? I entered a drawing at the RV show last week and won 20 free camping nights, a $100 gas card and an Android tablet from them...of course I have to go on a 30 minute resort tour but if that is all I say that's a fair trade?!,
