I find it sad that some of us want to leave this once wonderful state. Used to be people wanted to come to Cali, now they want to leave because it is so messed up here now.

Why leave? They are trying to split the state into two....you can leave and stay at the same time!

Yes there are 2 counties up north that are trying to start secession from the state to form Jefferson, correct? One started to in 1941 but Pearl Harbor put and end to that.

Back to the topic.

Northern CA....Hiouchi, (Crescent City).....ocean, rivers, redwoods.......absolutely love it. Love camping on Oregon coast, just 20 miles up the road!

Ok, so now I know there's many of you living in CA. What do you think of towing a 5er on RT 1?

I think you will find out more if you ask that question in the travel forum for the west coast.

depends on which section of Highway 1 you're talking about.
it varies widely, section to section.
the sections most often advised for long RV'ers to avoid, is the section between Hearst Castle and Carmel and the section between Fort Bragg and Leggett.

That would NOT be enjoyable, unless you were stopping at many different locations to camp. It gets too tight and you may have a lot of clearance issues with branches, etc.
That being said, I'd do it, but I'd have to have a really good reason...

Don't take Fort Bragg to Legget but the rest of it is doable though there are better options. While the views are spectacular it would be better to drive 101 for parts of it and cut over to Hwy 1 to camp and sight see that area in your truck. There are always people sight seeing on Hwy 1 so getting a spot big enough for a 5er can be done but don't expect your first choice on a weekend. It is some of the most beautiful scenery to be found. Enjoy!

We are in Sacramento. We are seriously considering moving out of Cali. After I retire.

We left Sacramento in 2005 and never looked back.
