I just created a thread of Tips on Organizing a Local FROG Event that might be helpful in putting together an event in California or anywhere else. It's in the FROG events category.

It might be useful to make it a sticky thread to keep it at the top of the category.

Do some research. There is only one RV park in Santa Barbara; the 'Sunrise RV park' I think it's called. Full hookups only, 50 bucks a night. It's just a parking lot with bathrooms, so it's not a great place for popups, even if they let them camp there, which they might not.

A better option might be the Pismo area.

Could anyone recommend a good winter RV destination in SoCal in the winter? I'm mainly interested in less expensive options, so dry campgrounds like National and State parks that aren't snowed in are what I'm looking for. Even boondocking, though I'd prefer places that might have other people around for security's sake.

I'd be too paranoid to enjoy myself if I left my new baby parked out in the middle of nowhere after getting my battery stolen off of my hitch while we were sleeping inside!

Try this company. I used to take my batteries out every time we left our popup at the storage yard. With our new unit, this was the second "upgrade" I did. Great quality!

Well not sure what exactly you are looking for. Santa Barbara as suggested isn't really SoCal but maybe that is what you want. Any of the state beach campgrounds would be great as they would not be that crowded right now. Bolsa Chica State beach is good. Also Huntington Beach. Even Dana Point area I think it is called Doheny SB. If you go North a bit to Malibu area you can also do Leo Carrillo (sp?) state Beach. Hope that helps.

I meant in the city itself. I didn't know that a campground past Goleta would be called in Santa Barbara.

There are several campgrounds and State Beaches around the area.
