Chula Vista rv park.

Chula vista rv Best in San Diego area by far. Also is adjacent to a marina and a couple of nice restaurants.

It is my understanding that Mission Bay is no longer in business, as the site will be used for condominiums or commercial. Although it would not be near to the water, we have stayed at Santee Lakes Padre Dam Park during 2 different winters and really enjoyed it. It does not have a lot of activities, but is in a beautiful and peaceful setting.

If you don't mind being 10-12 miles from the water, Sweetwater Summit Regional Park is fantastic. About $33 per night for full hookups, concrete pads for parking your rig, showers and nice views.

Regarding San Diego, here are some other places not yet mentioned:
Next door to the aforementioned Campland by the Bay.
Sunland RV Resorts has ten locations for your next escape
Sunland has 5 or 6 RV resorts in the San Diego area.
Paradise by the Sea RV Resort
Paradise By The Sea is located in Oceanside, some 20 miles north of San Diego, close to Camp Pendleton Marine Base.

Chula Vista RV Resort and the Chula Vista KOA are probably the most popular in San Diego since they are close to the city and near the Bay. Campland by the Bay and Mission Bay are right there on the water and their rates attest to that. In California, the closer you are to the water, the higher the rate.

We stayed for a week at Mission Bay RV a couple of years ago when we were adopting our rescue pups. It was a bit expensive, but not terribly so, especially considering it was so clean, well kept, close to everything we were interested in seeing, pet friendly, loved walking down to the bay, and taking the pups on their daily constitutionals just outside the park on the Bay walk, the gate is locked and the walk is sided by the bay on one side, and a residential trailer neighborhood on the other. Besides the locked entry to the walk, there was round the clock security in case of any problems, which was nice, although the park was so quiet, it didn't seem necessary, but we appreciated it anyway. We really enjoyed our stay there. They have their own beach...check out their site on the internet...they have a virtual tour, and the pictures are accurate... so you can see if it appeals to you.

Mission Bay is still open! We spent 5 nights there over last weekend. It should be open through the end of the year and beyond. Get one of the back in water front sites. They have a great view. Click image for larger version
