We are heading to Colorado Springs for a family reunion in July and want to take a week camping in colorado afterwards. We will have our kids with us (son 13 & daughter 8). Looking for an awesome RV resort in the Rocky's. Please comment on suggestions. Thank you!

We stayed at this place for about a month last spring. It is about half way between Colorado Springs and Canyon City. It is a nice campground with some hiking trails and a playground. Not sure you would call it a "resort" but we did enjoy the mountain area and there are lots of deer around.

Tiger Run is great for a summer mountain fun. Breckinridge is a cool town with lots going on. Need to make reservation VERY SOON for July.

As a Colorado resident, I can tell you there are a plethora of great camping spots. Certainly, Breckenridge has much to offer. The mountain hiking, biking, fishing on the blue river and lake Dillion not too far. More thing to do than you can cram into a week. Enjoy our beautiful state! Make reservations NOW,

Mountiandale is most likely the best one close to Colorado Springs, there are others but what we have seen, being a bit out of town is worth the drive.

We will be staying at Cheyenne Mountain state park in early July. We did a lot of research. Most of the national park campground do not offer full hook up. Some have water, but few. Most of the private campground looked very small. Cheyenne Mountain looked very nice, full hook ups, large campground, but also not very many trees.
I posted a thread about our trip there and another member posted some pictures. Look for my thread.

Most nationals don't have much in the way of hook up. Cheyenne Mtn is a great park and you are right, not much in tall trees. We are in an alpine desert, so most of what we have are scrub oak, but a lot of those. Enjoy!

I take pictures of the good campsites I find when camping since moving to Colorado 2 years ago.

Meuller State Park is the nicest Ive been to here so far. I like the setting in Rocky Mountain Nation Park, Moraine campground the best. Tiger Run in Breck is nice but too civilized for me. I have noticed, unless you make reservations right at the 6month mark, pickings get slim at the state parks and USFS campgrounds.

yeah, tiger run has restrictions, i.e no pop ups or tent type trailers. they just want the fancy ones it seems.

Ditto for us on Memorial Day at Mountaindale. We took a drive through a few weeks ago and it's laid out nice and easy to get to off of 115.
