Central Alberta Canada to Mesa, Az. trip

I was hoping to get some input as to where to stay on this trip down the I-15 from the CDN/US boarder to Mesa. The last year when we drove this it was Mid January and we fought a storm all the way to Vegas which made us drive 22 hours straight to Kingman.
This time we leave mid October and would like to take atleast a few days to get to Mesa with stops along I-15. Are there any nice spots to stay at along this route? Being later fall not sure what campgrounds would be open either?
Thanks

There are a couple of nice campgrounds in Dillon, MT that are open in October. Makes it a long drive from Stoney Plain, AB for a first stage but there isn't much else that is a decent standard and open at that time of year any closer to home. I certainly wish I was heading back south for the winter. We just got back from Cave Creek (North of Phoenix), although we didn't have our TT with us.

As you won't be far away, you have to visit Becketts Table in Phoenix. Fantastic restaurant. Great service and great food. Also Tontos Bar and Grill in Cave Creek.

Enjoy the trip.
