Cherry Creek SP in CO

We have about 4500 miles planned for July with two stops at Cherry Creek SP in Aurora, CO. We picked it for it's location based on where we are coming from and going to (Zion and Bryce). It looks nice from the web and we have had great luck at SPs - can anyone share any advice or info?? Thanks!

I may be partial but I would not camp right in the middle of Denver.

CC SP is ok if it is during the week but not what I would call camping.

If you are looking to stay close to Denver then try Golden Gate state park just outside of Golden CO.

Much prettier and a lot quieter.

Agree. However, Golden Gate fills up immediately. If you are more than a couple hours past the 6 month window for reservations you can pretty much forget it. :-(

I've camped @ Cherry Creek several times. Don't even know you're close to city. Large sites, easy access in and out. I-25 to 225 exit Parker. Quick and easy. Golden is out of the way. Just sayin!
Chat field state park another option.

Clear creek rv park in golden. No reservations allowed so you can usually get in. Opens at 7am. Awesome place.

Camped there a year ago October. Since we were 4 units in a group, they gave us our own small loop. No feeling of being in or near Denver. View is trees and the reservoir, and deer.

Cherry Creek

We are from Western NY. We are spending a week in Zion, so CC SP will be an overnight at the least, maybe two nights. It actually sounds perfect because my family has never seen Denver and it is a neat city. Thanks for the info.

It will be fine if in fact you DO want to see Denver then I would say yes!

My family and I feel getting out of the city is "Top Priority"!!

Enjoy

We are surrounded by corn fields and dairy farms....and we are spending a week in Zion, so it will be a nice break.

Golden is easy in and out, smaller and WAY cuter than Denver. Campground is right on clear creek. Awesome.
