Christmas dinner not as planned

I'm camping at the beach and haven't been concerned about times of meal. Around 7:30 pm tonight I decided to heat up my Christmas dinner. The oven was on low to warm up the turkey while I heated up the other items. In the microwave I had some dressing heating up in a microwaveable dish for a good period of time. The RV smelled pretty good before the scent changed to smell of melted plastic followed by the smoke alarm going off. I opened windows and turned on the fantastic fan before taking out the dish outside and shortly the alarm stopped.

I made use of a small flying pan to heat up more dressing. Overall the dinner was still pretty good and now the smell is gone. As I tossed out the garbage I realized my error. I had used a microwave streamer dish without the streamer part and without any water. Due to the extended length of heating time (per package directions) the dish heated up past the point of design. I now know better.

While things didn't go as planned all is well now. No damage to the RV and I am safe. I also have a holiday tale to share many years from now.

Merry Christmas to all.

Well Merry Xmas to you, It could have been worst, you could have burnt up the Turkey, Glad all still came out well. What beach where you at? Lived in SF area for 25 years until the tax's ran us out. Really miss California, but not the tax's on fixed income.

I'm at San Clemente State Beach. Full hook ups are not cheap.

Originally I had planned on baked BBQ chicken for dinner but changed my mind the day before. I only have a small selection of pans & dishes because I camp solo & usually keep meals simple.

The problem was that I over cooked the dressing and ended up not only burning it but melting the dish. Since I was only cooking for one the little flying pan was a better choice than the large 4 qt pan. All the other pans were in use already.
