Colorado - cannot find any place.

I am having one hell of a time finding a state park, or federal campground in Colorado. Looking for one between Colorado Springs and Trinidad Co, 40 miles on either side. My dates are June 1-15 then I am going to New Mexico 2 weeks the to the Grand Canyon. If anyone has any ides even private CG's but I do not like spending more than $28 a night for at least electric and water hook ups, sewer is a bonus. Ideas?

Rec.gov and the state park website got me no place.

Ditto that - and I believe Mueller has a large # of walk-in only sites - so your chances of finding something could be pretty good even if they're booked up. On that topic - if you're willing to try walk-in only, you could have decent luck in La Vista or St Charles next to Lake Isabel (about 20-25 minutes off I-25 west of Colorado City). They're 1/4 mile apart, and each have about 5 walk-in only sites. La Vista has electric, St. Charles has no hookups. There is also another campground there with longer pull-through sites - Southside, I think - but is more like an RV parking lot from the looks of it. Since it looks like you're going mid-week right after a lot of folks are headed home from Memorial Day weekend camping - you might get lucky. :-)

Check out Lathrop, too - not sure how many walk-in only sites they have..

Just a couple miles south of Raton is the NRA Whittington center with plenty of full hookup sites. Don't need to be an NRA member.

Boondock is the way to go. get yourself a quiet inverter generator, extra water containers, and call it a day. Why would you want to go to a crowded and noisy campground? Hookups are overrated and Colorado's beauty is best cherished in the solitude of the CO backcountry.

Plenty of places to dump and get water.

If I recall right, Mueller current has no sewer facilities including dump station due to a facility problem.

Almost all of Colorado's RV parks are west of I-25 and with so few parks and so many RV's, Colorado is usually booked solid in the summer.

Colorado parks have daily vehicle fee of at least $7 a day. Can be purchase a yearly also. Above camping charges.

Top of Raton Pass on east side of I-25. Not bad for an overnight or three.

Colorado - cannot find any place.

Trinidad Lake State Park
Lathrop State Park near Walensburg
Lake Isabel - La Vista near Rye
Lake Pueblo State Park near Pueblo
Cheyenne Mountain State Park near CO Springs.

Found using the RV Parky app. There are more parks further out plus commercial sites such as at least four KOAs within your defined area.Click image for larger version

Try here:
Greenhorn Meadows Park Campsites -Campground
4040-4098 W Graneros Rd
Pueblo, CO 81004

cocityparksandrec.com

Their website doesn't give much info, like rates, so you will have to contact them.

Enjoy

I found out a couple of years ago that the Colorado state parks are very popular. If you have not made a reservation by early March, you will have a hard time finding any openings.

Should be right in the middle of the timeframe you were looking for - curious what you were able to find & how it turned out for you! :-)
