We have traveled through Denver many times, just plan it for weekends, very early morning or even during lunch time so I-70 is not that bad.

It is not cheap for sure. Luckily most of our camping is in the northern part of the state. Once or twice we head south.

When ever I find myself going thru a major city I do so before 5:00 am local time.

I travel that road often for the ease of traffic and location to my house . It is super expensive but in my case time is money!
I never haul a trailer because it is so expensive. I made that mistake when we moved out here six years ago, lessons learned.

You drive on that toll road and there are not any toll booths - they just send a bill to the license plate about two months later. Mine was about $30 pulling a TT from westbund I-70 north to I-25; maybe ten miles. Last time I do that!

FWIW - I70 through Denver is pretty wide and straight. I25 through Denver is a narrow, weaving construction mess.

But I'd drive both before incurring those tolls!

But but, I love E470 for getting to the Airport from Boulder.

Going from Colorado Springs to Loveland in August we took I25 to I225 to I70 to I270 back to I25. Had no delays at all. Was on a weekday about 11:00 am.

Same thing on the Richmond/Petersburg Turnpike in VA. Old days when that was part of my territory there were 6 (I think) toll booths along the route from South of Petersburg to North of Richmnond (I-95). Probably a 30 mile stretch, an dach booth collected $.25 - Apparently the construction costs were paid off. At any rate, I've driven the road several times since I retired, and there are no longer any tolls. Good for VA - kept its promise!

Wonder if the old nickel bridge in Richmond still collects tolls?
