I didn't know a skylight in the slide was an option. There is one over the galley and one over the shower. I think it is funny that the kitchen skylight is frosted and the shower has clear plastic.

We are across the street at KOA using our two free days offer from the PMRV show for buying a new trailer. As wet as it is, I am enjoying the resort amenities. The hot tub over here is nice and warm. We are venturing over to the fort on Sunday.

Thanks. I wish I had thought of that before we left. The furnace is cycling on and off pretty often. I have to keep the wife warm if I want her to head out in this weather.

If there's a WalMart or other source nearby, I'd suggest checking out what they have for heaters. Usually there's something that isn't too expensive. When we're someplace cold we run a space heater at night, and in the morning I turn on the furnace for a while to get things more comfortable. As someone else said, don't forget to turn off the heater when you need to run something else--if you don't you'll almost certainly be resetting circuit breakers.

There are MORE options on a Cherokee than other Brands of F/R units,maybe because there are lots of Standard Options,(Whatever in the Hell that Is) on other F/R Brands! They show the (Optional Skylight) in the 264L Floorplan ad! Youroo!!

We made it to Astoria and stayed 2 nights at KOA. I absolutely love this stormy coastal weather. I bought some Frog Toggs rain gear and good rain boots so I stayed dry as a British man's humor from the unhitching, leveling and hookup. Enjoyed the indoor pool and spa and went to see the sights in Astoria including a climb to the top of the Astoria Column where the wind was so strong I could hardly open my eyes.

We then headed south to Lincoln City during a "High Wind Advisory". I can't believe how well the Durango hauls an 11ft tall, 31ft long trailer. I was getting moved around a bit but never felt any loss of steering and stayed inside the lines. My only trouble was in a tunnel. I had to power all the way up to counter the head wind, air was whistling through every crevice of the SUV and making the windows pulsate. It felt almost as if I had lost my engine or tranny but as soon as I exited the tunnel we gained our speed back.

We have to get back before Christmas so we can't go for anymore adventures after leave Lincoln City on Wednesday. I feel the next trip will involve a little more rustic atmosphere now that I have all the necessary supplies and have an idea what level of use my holding tanks and fresh water supply can support. Additionally, my backing skills are improving so I don't think we are limited to pull-thru sites.

I will give a final update after we make it home in one piece on Wednesday.

I now see that in the floorplan. Strange that it said the shower skylight was an option but that does not show up in the floorplan. Also we have a skylight about three feet starboard from the optional dinette skylight position although I think that was standard equipment.

So far we love the floorplan. We had a hard time deciding between 'Rear Lounge' and 'Rear Kitchen'. I think we made the right decision since the rear window has been my main observation point for storm watching. I turn the recliner around and look out the window. With the rear kitchen I would have been staring at another camper.

Jughrad,it all depends (Where you Camp/Park) as to what your View will be! From different Window Locations! Here is a example of a Front Kit Windjammer that was (Placed by a Mule) so they could have a Gulf Coast View! Youroo!! The Front of the V-Nose was only 6' from the Rock retaining wall!

Frosting on a skylight is done for more than one reason.

1. Privacy.
Obviously, being on the ceiling, the probability of someone looking down through the skylights is slim so frosting it for privacy doesn't apply here.

2. Diffusion.
The kitchen skylight is frosted (actually diffused) to soften the bright sunlight and disperse it over a wider area.

Diffused lenses are often used for lighting that is placed above areas where tedious work is being performed.
Better coverage, no bright spots and easier on the eyes.

We had a great trip. No major issues despite Mother Nature. As mentioned previously, the trip from Astoria to Lincoln City was during a significant 'High Wind Warning" and although the 'Durango Tango' was exciting it was uneventful. After two days in Lincoln City (Avoid Logan Rd RV Park & Lincoln City KOA, go to Devil's Lake RV Park) we woke to news of snow in the Coastal Range. A car did spin out in the slush and cross into our lane heading straight for us but he got control just in time. My collision avoidance maneuver did not cause any issues, the trailer followed me just fine. I had one hard braking event and we stopped on a dime.

In summary, the trailer functioned perfectly and has only very minor cosmetic cabinet flaws. The Durango exceeded all expectations; nothing but praise for old Nellie after I adjusted the WDH and added the sway control. Camping World sent me out squatting with a 2.5 inch rise in the front and no sway control for a 31 foot trailer with a short wheel base SUV TV. I didn't make any newbie mistakes that caused damage, however, I did embarras myself by setting up then realizing my slide went over the line into my neighbors site and The whole park was out in force catching the 'qtear down and setup again' show.

Just for future reference if you do come out to the coast at this time of year, invest in a portable electric heater, saves a lot of propane, we have this one, Heat Wave Blythe Tabletop Infrared Quartz Heater, 1400 watts and 15amps.

Also invest in a few damp rids, a lot of rain and moisture this time of year in Oregon.

Did a little walkthrough of Ape Cave some time back, had a great time there.
