Smile ? Free campsites or pull offs on Nevada Hwy 93

We are on the go again heading south out of Spokane to Phoenix. First nite out will be @Wells NV. There are campgrounds, but we just want to pull over for the night. Have done my usual Internet search. Has anyone ever been on Hwy 93 and seen some picnic area or other pull outs?

Haven't seen anywhere I would park in Wells except in a camp ground. Last year we stayed at "China Town"... it's an old casino/chinese food restaurant / motel without the casino. The have several back in spots for a small fee. No picnic tables etc. Good chinese food. Didn't cost much. WiFi and cable is included as I recall. Full hookups. Wells ChinaTown Restaurant Motel RV Park is their website. I would pay a small fee in Wells than take my chances in a parking lot. Have a nice trip! They also take credit cards.

There are wild life observation points on 93 and there are kind of wide spots.

NV US-93 | Schellbourne Rest Area | NV
This is south of Wells on 93.

This one is 20-24 miles east of Wells on I-80.

NV I-80 Exit 373 | Pequop Rest Area | at the Pequop Summit, NV

Myself I would just camp out in the Loves or Petro TS there in Wells get up in the AM have breakfast in one of the restaurants fuel and go.

You likely could "stealth" camp at the Four Way Casino, I think it is the Petro TS and the restaurant is decent...Wells is a funny town

I won a golf tournament at Chimney Rock GC, but it was a long time ago, before I was even looking for a place to plop my TT. The people at ChinaTown are really nice I used to drive from Wendover and later from Elko to have there food, very reasonable. Pequop in right on I 80 and its a very steep short (east to west) mountain range just to the east of Wells, the road to Schellbourne is a good road and they have a big parking area with very little traffic this time of year.... when you get to Ely, look for Mt. Baker it's has a tour through some caves that are awesome and the drive is beautiful from there you can head to Utah further east or continue towards Las Vegas.. Enjoy

Free camping on 93 in NV

Not sure about the free camping, but be sure to stop at Windmill Ridge Restaurant in Alamo NV for a great sweet roll. Yum That's a must!

South of Alamo there is the Pharanagat NWR which has about 12 free sites, a couple of hem big enough for a large RV. Free, but get there early. Spokane to Wells is a long stretch. Slow down an enjoy the drive.

We've camped at the USFS Angel CG a couple of times and found it quite nice, but it's probably closed for winter now. Going on up to the Angel Lake CG is a hard pull. You might try Google Earth to have a look for wide spots along Hwy 93. The Wells Airport is NE of town just off of Hwy 93, and they may have a spot for overnighters. Many rural airports do have areas for such. You might give them a call and ask (775) 752-3120.
