The art inside the tower, and views from this spot are really amazing. It was not on our 'radar' originally, and it turned out to be the highpoint of our stay on the South Rim. If you are staying at the KOA - you might be tempted to skip it......... don't skip it. It is not that much further out of the way since you are already in the park. IMHO (in my humble opinion)

We stayed at Ten X campground. Great c amp. Close to park gate. Inexpensive half off with the fedreal old guy pass and that made it really cheap. Dry camping but controller access and a vigilant camp host made us comfortable leaving the rig while in the park all day. Best budget way to see the canyon.

If you're up for some adventure, try the Grand Falls off I 40 East to Leupp exit that's about an hour and a half, then about a half hour north.
These are suppose to be larger than Niagara falls.
This picture is in November 2015 not much water then, when it flows watch out.

As mentioned before, Antelope slot canyons out of Page. AZ. then you should go see the Horseshoe bend at the colorado river.
Then on your way back stop by the bridge going over the river by Navajo Bridge off 89A and see the condors.

If you don't do a sunrise or sunset while you are at the Grand Canyon, you'll miss 90% of the color and contrast!

It is on the Navajo Reservation and the road is usually really bad. Don't take your rig there and there is only water a few times of the year. Looks like chocolate milk, and have no idea how they think it is taller than Niagara!
