The Oregon coast is great, Beverly beach state park is nice. In Washington I would not recommend you take ANY ferry with a 40 foot trailer unless your wallet is made of gold. The state will gouge you like no other, you will be shocked what they charge. If a car and driver is 15.00 common sense would think that if you take up the space of three or four cars you would pay a rate of 3 or 4 times.....not. Avoid the ferries if you can.

We just booked ours. Living on an island gives the ferries a reason just to print money.
$253 dollars each way for an hour and a half sailing. Cuts down on our spending money into the economy.

We moved to Anacortes from Everett in late 1999, a year or so after I took early retirement from Boeing. We love it here. The people are very friendly. We've made many good friends and there are lots of things going on all year.

My sister, who lives in the UK, says Anacortes is where God takes his vactions and it's the only place we've lived in the US that she's jealous.

We were lucky to get into our house before there was a big spike in values. We paid $185K for it and four years later it was appraised by the county taxman at $325K. It's now dropped back to about $240K.

We'll leave here in wooden boxes, barring Alzheimer's or similar catastrophies.
