Lathrop State Park, Colorado
We just recently took our first really camping trip with our kids to Lathrop state park in southern Colorado. It is a small park surrounding 2 lakes, has some easy hiking trails, and a great view of the Spanish Peaks in the background. Hopefully, the panorama I took shows in this post.
We camped not far from a group of boulder that the kids quickly named lizard rock for obvious reasons. In addition to lizards, I guess there are baby bunnies that you can catch and hold (see picture). We did eventually let the bunny go, thank goodness. I don't need another pet. Two dogs are enough.
The RV sites have full electrical but no water of sewer. However, there were spigots nearby, you just could not permanently connect to them, so we filled our water tank from them, then disconnected. The weather was perfect at around 75 degrees, but I bet it gets hot during the summer.
Even though we did not catch any fish, we did have a great time as a family. Looking forward to the next trip to Mesa Verde and the Great Sand Dunes in a couple weeks.
