Lazy Days/KOA Tucson - Great!

We spent nearly 3-weeks here in January and really liked it. If you usually don't like KOAs this one will change your mind.

Very nice park in every way. Great sites. Clean and well maintained. Covered sites available with Solar Panels. Free Oranges, Lemons and Grapefruits throughout the CG ready for picking this time of year.

And Tucson is a great place to winter as well. Terrific January weather.

We stayed there a couple of years ago and they had a nice dog park also. Love having fresh fruit free for the taking. Would definitely stay they again.

Restaurant is still open. Just not very good. I hear it was better a few years ago. I had one meal there. Just OK.

But there lots a good places all over town.

The CG is pricy. But worth it I'd say.

$27.95 - $40.95 a day in April isn't bad and that is before applying the 10% value card discount.

I was there a couple of weeks ago. About $47.50 per night. Gotta remember this is peak season. Last fall we paid around $35.00 per night. When we go to Tucson it is our preferred campground.

April is "off season". That's when the heat starts to arrive. We were in Tucson last Mid-April and days were high 80's low 90's every day. But it did cool off at night. But after May 1st it's going to be better for us to be at home for better weather.

Jan - Feb - Mar is the peak season when the weather is extra pleasant. Living in South Texas we like to camp without having to run A/C non-stop. It's fine to run it a little but if we have to run A/C all day (and especially all night) we're not happy campers.

We like it a little on the chili side - and January here is a perfect blend of cool and cold for us.

One of the reasons It's such a nice place is that is wasn't built by KOA. The campground was built and owned by Lazy Days and was sold to KOA a couple of years ago. We stayed there before KOA too it over and since then and haven't found much difference. We haven't used the restaurant since KOA started managing it.

KOA is responsible for the solar panel installation.

Actually LazyDays bought it around 2011 I think it was built by Beaudry's.

On campgroundreviews.com there are reviews from 2008 and in those reviews people complain about Beaudry's operation of the CG. There are a few from 2010 talking about Lazy Day's operation.

Whatever the reason - it seems to have improved under KOA's operation. We enjoyed both the facility and the way they are running it.
