national parks are closed-wouldn't have thought of this

we are out at St George Utah (really at Leeds RV Park) to see Zion and Bryce and..... They are closed thanks to the federal $$$ and no approved budget. arrived on Sunday and saw Zion on Monday, not all. on Tuesday the no money thing had us turned away at Zion and all we wanted to do was drive through to the east entrance.
so we have had to find other things, and we did but very disappointing this happened.
would not have figured this is our planning------don't go when there may be a chance the parks will be closed.
this picture was on our travels getting here at Provo campground.

If you are still in the area go to
Dead Horse Point Utah STATE park.
It has one of the best views of the upper Colorado river anywhere.

Hike out to the point, don't drive!! The hike is awesome and not that long.

I speak to disgruntled RVers every day. Most are tourist who are more upset with the rental companies they rented their RVs from. Most all of them knew about a possible shut down of the national parks weeks in advance. When they tried to cancel their RV rental reservations, they were told they could not cancel. That they were "no refund" policies in place. That being the case they made the trip over here anyways. Most are just making the best of a poor situation, and using state parks, and just driving, while looking at the landscapes they pass.
"Full Timer" with "Boon Docking" in the desert southwest being my drug of choice. Well, that and really cold beer.

Moderator note: please be mindful of the community rules and remember that politics aren't open for discussion on the forum. You can talk about camping, you can talk about campgrounds being closed, but please avoid the politics commentary.

At this point, we've had to close prior threads due to too many political-based comments. With your assistance, maybe this is the one that can stay alive.

There is only one National Park in Oregon.
There are hundreds of places to stay and see all over the state.
The Snake River Canyon at Hat Point is deeper than the Grand Canyon.
The Wallowa Mountains are the Alps of Oregon.
The Newberry Crater has 2 lakes in the caldera.
Go explore!!
