need a cooler getaway in new mexico

Wife and i are looking to get out for a week or so end of the month....want to head somewhere cooler, preferably in new Mexico. We are regulars in ruidoso, and are heading to Albuquerque for balloon festival later....

So any favorite place anyone can recommend? Preferably mountains, decent sized lots, full hookups. ? Someone recommended sipapu but said the rv park there was small and cramped...?

So any ideas?....i need to get away!..... :-)

El Vado or Lake Huron are great this time of year. Several campgrounds with hookups and weather is perfect. Check it out!

Willow Creek has good sites with full hookups. Not sure about reservations for that campground though. There is also Blanco electric. We are hoping to get up there yet this year before the temp's drop. We typically prefer more remote areas like the woods of Jemez or Cuba. Youtube has some good photos of each site you may want to check.

Cloudcroft has always been my favorite NM getaway. Several CG's out east of town. Nothing pretentious and cheaper than Ruidoso.

thanks, sounds nice up that way...any idea if those sites have length restrictions?? last time i was at a state park in nm they had a 24 foot max length policy.....needless to say that didnt work out so well....lol...we just want to go somewhere quiet, cool, and relaxing...i wanna sit outside in my chair (hopefully with a fire pit) drink my cold beer, bs with the wife, and look at the stars....no dogs, no kids, no shopping.....nothing of the sort....just a nice site with water and electric at least...

I stayed at the Apache campgroung musta been 2005 back when my daughter was in NMSU at Las Cruces. Wife and I had a Starcraft pop up back then. Don't remember anything about length restrictions back then. It's a steep grade down into Alamgordo but a gentle climb coming in from the east.

NM cool camping!

Hello from southern NM. We were up at Eagle Nest NM last mo. and enjoyed it a lot. Stayed at Weathers rv park east side of town. Full hookups, but a little short on "Fancy". Doe's have ice to keep our beer cold. LOL. Nice lake to look at and fish, and plenty of mountains to check out. Also -- Weathers has a website. Blueox said that!
