San Diego to Mt. Rushmore

We will be traveling from SD to SD! right after Labor Day. Right now we anticipate going through Las Vegas, Salt Lake City, Cody WY. , and then on to Mt Rushmore. Anyone else going to be along this route the first two weeks of September? Any ideas or suggestions? We have a 25 foot FR Sunseeker and will be towing a Fiat 500. First long trip in the FR!

Did almost the same trip in June. Our route was San Diego-Las Vegas-Zion-Bryce Canyon-Grand Junction, CO.-Cheyenne, WY-Hill City, SD. When in the Black Hills don't miss Wind Cave it was pretty nice. Also recommend Deadwood, SD and the Mammoth Site in Hot Springs, SD. You'll have a great trip whatever you see.

I suggest you boom over to the Crazy Horse site, not just to see the carving the rest of that place is just packed with wonderful information.

Lot of other sights to see, a week would do to see most of it.

We had the chance to walk up to the crazy horse carving. GREAT. It is allowed once a year in June during a "Volksmarch".

Don't forget Devil's Tower that can be reached from Cody or Cheyenne. It is worth the few extra miles that it takes to get there, nothing quite like it anywhere else! FR had a trip to SD last fall and it was fabulous!! Tell the Presidents hi for us.

We were there in June, had no idea or I would have made the walk.....

I did walk up to the Mt. Moriah cemetery in Deadwood where Wild Bill and Calamity Jane are buried.
