Trip to Zion National Park
Just got back from Zion National Park, what an awesome place we camped at Zion River resort. this place was just a very nice place, full hook ups and very nice groomed RV spaces, the staff was very acomodating and friendly, the bathrooms were clean and showers were free. Well worth it.

zions watchman campground
Every May we spend in the parks Watchman campground and love it. Power but no water. Its right next to the shuttle stop into the canyon. Mae sure you get reservations and dont miss Angels Landing hike!

We camped at Zion River Resort just about a year ago, on the way to the FROG rally in Las Vegas. What an awesome place. After Labor Day, it isn't too crowded in the park. Before Labor Day...I just can't imagine how crowded it must get.

We're planning a photo trip to Zion this Nov 15 through the 18th.
Hoping the late fall colors will still be there. Watchman CG still has openings plus you can drive in the park w/o needing to use the shuttles. Kiddie Poos are back in school and most folks will be prepping for turkey day, so the park is pretty empty. Anybody interested in joining up??

trip to Zion and then Moab area
going to Zion and Bryce Canyon at the end of the month and really looking forward to it. So far our planning says to use the free shuttle busses first to see the normal place and then go back if necessary. Staying at Leeds RV park.
any inputs?

Sounds like you have a great trip planned. You mentioned three of our favorite places!
The shuttles at Zion are "required" during the peak season on the Zion Canyon scenic drive. They are very convenient. You can take advantage of any stop and if you're a couple of minutes late for one you're just five minutes early for the next. Plus you can take your vehicle on the main highway through the tunnel and on to the east entrance. Don't miss the canyon overlook trail just past the tunnel.
Zion and Bryce are very different places. At Zion you're always looking up at the canyon formations. At Bryce you look mostly down. At Moab, "Arches" you are very "in" the formations.
Also, Bryce and Moab have a lot more hiking opportunities. We highly recommend the "Peekaboo" and "Navajo" trails at Bryce. Also at Bryce the shuttles are optional. So if you want to take your vehicle and park at the different overlooks and trail heads no problem. We like that just because we like to take our picnic lunch and other comforts which gets a little clumsy on the bus.
In Arches, a late afternoon hike to Delicate arch is a must do. Just wait for the sun to set and watch the glow wash across the arch, fantastic. In the morning go to the "Windows" area for another experience. You can hike before sunrise through the "North Window" to a perch on the opposite side. Just wait for the sunrise to illuminate the window then be patient as it paints the Turret Arch. You will see it perfectly framed and glowing with color. What a way to welcome the day. Don't forget to head over to Canyonlands for a day trip as well. Message back if we can give any additional ideas. You will love this trip!

This past summer we hit Bryce, Red and Grand Canyon, Monument Valley, Sante Fe and made our way home through Colorado. It was my first time seeing any of those areas. It was so gorgeous! I'm so ready to go back. I think my favorite was Red Canyon. It seems like everybody passes it up and instead heads right for Bryce Canyon. We practically had the place to ourselves while Bryce was packed!

Lucky You! Red Canyon is a little bit of a secret stash. Not many take the time to check it out. Well worth a day spent away from the crowds

I remember Angel's Landing. I have a similar picture taken 30 years ago of that narrow arduous trail up there. I went to Zion with the guy I was dating when I was in my 20's. Let's just say...... "interesting experience" on Angel's Landing. 30 years ago. (figure it out.....)

The shuttles are the way to go, you can park at the visitors center and the shuttles come every 10 minutes going up and coming back. If you are planning to do some hiking take plenty of water, a hat and if you do the Angels hike take a light lunch. Once you are at the top you might as well enjoy the view while you have lunch. When you go to Bryce you may want to go as early as possible, you definetly want to do some hiking there. Both parks are truly magical and they will take your breath away. Have a great time.

We did Bryce Canyon, Grand Canyon and Zion last summer! They were all great! I had never heard of Bryce until I saw a picture of it in a guy's office at work.. Did some googling and the better half and I decided to include it.. Glad we did! It was the end of June and had awesome weather for the whole trip!
