Tuscon AZ recommendations
Any recommendation on a good RV park to stay at in the Tuscon are for a few days in the next couple of weeks.

We usually stay at the Lazydays KOA. Very nice. Reasonable. Not completely full of snowbirds this time of year

I agree!! I suppose you could pay that much or more if you get one of the several levels of premium sites.
We stay here when visiting our kids and get a back-up or one of the basic slots under the giant solar panels (shade). During the winter we usually pay under $50 a night. In the summer it is much cheaper. I believe Liz uses an AARP discount for a bit off the regular price. She also always calls and gets a better price than the online shows.
Getting harder and harder to find spots for a week or so during the snowbird months

To the west of Tucson is a place called Picacho Peak RV resort. It is roughly a 1/2 drive to Tucson proper, I haven't looked at pricing, but it is a nice clean park.

We stayed at the KOA in Tucson last year for 6 days. It was a pleasant surprise. Sites were nice, park is big, the restaurant on site had very good bbq ribs. We didn't pay anything near $84. Maybe in the $50s but we were visiting family and well worth it.

Spent a week there (LazyDayz KOA) at a camping rally three years ago.
Nice place...very crowded...had lots of lemons when we left!

Used to love this park! Beautiful and close to everything. No reservations and it fills up by noon everyday during the cool months. You just have to be lucky to get a spot until April.
Also the electric is getting sketchy as Pima County doesn't seem to want to maintain it properly. Also no generators can be used.
But the camp hosts are usually exceptional and help you with any problems, like electricity not working

Another vote for the Gilbert Ray Campground, but it is first come first serve.
Even if you don't camp there, try to visit the Saguaro National Park, the Arizona -Sonora Desert Museum and Old Tuscon (where they filmed movies and tv shows). They are all in the same area and we enjoyed them.

We appreciate the recommendation and will look into them further. Note taken on the Gilbert Ray GC. that we need the alternate directions as the first set of directions says "not recommended for trailers over 24 feet".And we may not be able to get a spot on a first come basis as we will be driving into the area the first day.
We do have reservations for Yuma. We managed to find one spot between the snowbirds. So if we can get out of the north between weather systems and get south without delays we will have extra days to kill and Tuscon looks like a good spot.

Love the name. I dont want to admit we are snowbirds yet so lets just say we are specing things out for the first time. Who knows we might find an interesting place to spend next winter.

There are several open spaces at the RV Park/Resort where I live in Yuma...
I know a pretty nice campground in Huachucka City (near Tombstone) that is awesome and inexpensive...about 90 miles south of Tucson!
I spent a week there last Memorial Day week.

You mean Huachuca City by Ft. Huachuca? It's a little over an hour from Tucson, about 60 miles. Of course I suppose it depends on which end of Tucson you measure from.
Actually all the parks close to Tombstone are pretty cheap. Even cheaper in the summer ,

South Texas is a good place to winter.
We winter at our home in Texas and try to spend the summers in the north to get out of our heat.
