I just did this on Microsoft Street and Trips, It goes to Denver and uses the I470 bypass, that is a toll road. It is expensive. I would come into town to I270 and go north to Ft.Collins by I25 then 287 to Laramie. I would plan to use I270 after 9 AM and before 3 PM.
You could do the west of Kearney Neb. to SLC or The 385 that Blackrook listed.
I live in Denver so I know I70 and the roads so no big problems for me. I would even consider taking I70 ( if you have not done this part of I70 before ) on thru the mountains to Green River and taking 6 up to SLC. Top off your tank at Green River.
I think all will work for you, just do what works for you. Just remember that gas can be a distance in the west.

So many roads to travel so little time.

I would just hit 70 to denver, 25 for Cheyenne and then 80 into SLC. This is is the way I go all the time between OK CO and UT.

SuicideSaints,

That is the way we are going, after spending 2 days in Joyland, Co. to check out Estes (sp?) Park....As I said at the start, we are flat land campers,so the mountains up/down worry us after what everyone says about them. We will just be taking our time up and down...

Jim

PS: SuicideSaints, where did you get that handle from?......

I would suggest you take I-84 at Echo Junction in Utah if you are going to HAFB. It is faster and you will avoid the steep grades in Parley's Canyon (Park City to SLC).

It's raining off and on here as well. Supposed to do that all week. At least our rainstorms in the west aren't anything like rainstorms in the mid-west.

Years ago (10 or so) I was part of an amateur sport bike racing team and that is was our team name, later we disbanded but I kept using the name.

Take it slow and safe travels. CO has this to help you out:
Road Conditions, Speeds, Travel Times, Traffic Cameras, Live Streaming Traffic Cameras, Road Closures and Road Work Information provided by Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) a branch of Colorado Department of Transportation

I don't know if WY has one, but check it out.
