Visit San Francisco recommendations for Rv friendly hotel

Looking to take the sunseeker to San Fran - wondering if anyone has done this ? Is there a good hotel or motel in town where you can stay and has Rv parking? I have driven through San Fran before, but never stopped there. Maybe a days inn or something like that so we can leave the sunseeker and go touristing?

most of us recommend not driving thru there, so i've never seen one parked there, except a Class B or really short Class C along a street.
of course, next to a parking meter.

most parking is in multi-level garages, which a MH wouldn't fit in.

parking is so very tight in San Francisco

best bet may be to check into an RV park for a night or two
say maybe in Napa Valley

do you pull a car behind ?
rent a car while you are there ?

DO NOT TAKE AN RV INTO SAN FRANCISCO. I doubt you could even get more than a few blocks into the city and it would take a crew to get you out.

Why? Busses and trucks drive in San Fran every day! My tiny 26'

I understood that you are looking for a hotel
with enough parking for your 26' RV
there is the problem in San Fran
all parking is very limited

an RV park not too far away I thought to be a good option

does not take much time to
Google a few hotels in the area
and
ask them if they will accommodate your RV
my guess is that they will say no
or they will just shoot you some lip service
and say yes
then when you show up good luck with the parking

sure we have all seen many hotels and motels
with a lot of extra parking in their lots
but
not in areas such as San Fran

saw plenty a while back in Kansas

Nowhere, have you ever been to San Fran? Parking is at a premium, and driving ab RV around SF is insane. Just north of San Fran in Sausalito there are free park and ride areas, park the RV there and take a cab into the city.

That's ridiculous. We're not "staying out" - we're going. With or without input (or approval. Sheesh!) we will find a days inn or a motel 6 with parking - stay a few nights and ride the trolleys. Again - have absolutely NO interest in an Rv park or near San Fran. That will be our hotel stop on our camping trip - a few days of civilization not living in the camper.

I guess we must be the only people on the planet who have thought of doing this (though i find that very very hard to believe !!)

We've done hotels en route to/from places, just the wrong coast.

Jim, you might consider looking a little south of town, Daily City or Burliggame. Getting away from the high rises would increase the opportunity for open parking lots. There is pretty good rail and transit service to get you into town so is you can find a place near a station, you would be good to go. Light rail goes clear to the airport now.

BTW, we towed a 17' TT across the GG and through town in 2009 with no problem.

Good luck. I doubt if you could find accommodations downtown to fit your needs, however there are several places around the outskirts that might work. You might try Point lobos inn at the end of Geary blvd. there is curb side parking that might work for you and it's far enough out from city center to be less hectic, and, there is public transportation right there to take you right downtown....plus, just down the street is the cliff house restaurant....

i'm sorry i don't know of anyplace like that in the city. but you might find something that meets your needs. i wish you luck.

I've been to San Francisco quite a lot, I love the place (to visit), but I can't think of any hotel in or anywhere near the city center that would meet your needs.

X2. Street parking is at such a premium for a COMPACT vehicle and don't know of any park lots except for by the ball field. When we were there last, it was a struggle to find parking near our hotel that wasn't $35 a day so we parked 3 blocks away on the street. Came back to find 1/4 panel caved in from someone else. Had the additional coverage though.

We offer this advice so that maybe your trip might not be ruined by a an ass.

I think the OP originally came on here asking for advice. As far as I can tell, that advice was given and several posters offered their advice based on experience. If the OP doesn't want to take it, then don't. It's just advice. Some people have to learn the hard way..........just saying. I'd love to hear about the results, "what could go wrong?"
