Which YNP entrance to use?

We're heading in from Great Falls, MT, so will most likely use the north entrance and stay at Canyon.

Pros, cons, comments?

Check to see if the road from the north entrance to the west entrance has been re-opened. It was closed when we were there last September and it was a PITA. A trip to the north involved at least a 3 hour trip around to the east and then to the north.

Yes the road from North entrance to West entrance is open, I was there just a few weeks ago, still some construction in that area but no real delays... unless someone sees a bear and then all traffic stops for everyone to look.

Love Yellowstone... great place.

I've always used the West or South entrance, depending where I was planning to stay, last year we stayed at Lewis Lake so we used the south entrance, this year we stayed outside the park at Hegben Lake (West Yellowstone) and used the West entrance

I should have mentioned that this will be in mid-July.

I heard somewhere yesterday that there were western entrance closures because of something. Keep an eye on it.
