Both Yellowstone and Glacier have short seasons.

This is the KOA in West Yellowstone on June 1:

Glacier on Sept. 30:

If the possible bad weather doesn't put you off, however, off-season is a really great time to visit either park.

Amenities and weather may be better in Jackson, WY later in the year if you consider staying there and day tripping to the Park.

The last I remember, Yellowstone is closed for vehicles for a while in the fall and 0 spring to protect the roads and migrating animals. Check their Web site.

In 2010, we were at the KOA in mid September and they were in the process of shutting down for the winter.

Several years ago, we took the snow cats into the park in January. Very cold but spectacular.

It does close early. possibly end of sept. Stores will have empty shelves if still open. Fuel may be hard to find. Ice and snow at night. Pretty but plan ahead.

I believe Madison is open till mid-October, and park roads (except north and northeast) close early November.

Not to say the weather can't change overnight and the roads could turn quite bad in a very short time.

As stated, plan for sub freezing temps. Where I am we are getting into the mid 30-40 at night and Yellowstone is much higher elevations.

We had snow in June at Yellowstone . . .

We had snow the second week of September in the Big Horns. Elevation 7,000 feet.

I would expect snow in mid-October.

Currently the Grand Loop Road from Tower Fall to Canyon Junction is scheduled to be closed for the season on Monday, October 19, 2015.

The only place I ever worried about water hose freezing at night. Just filled fresh tank and disconnected hose. No problem. Got in mid 20s on us. But no crowds. Some areas were closed due to icy roads. Be careful.
