Does anyone know what kind of mileage those things get?
A guess would be 7-8.5 MPG.

According to some of the guys, 7.2 is the worst and 9.4 is the best-pulling a monster-size fifth wheel.

I don't know where you saw that, but I saw a similar setup last year in Frankenmuth. Might even be the same guy, the colours look right.
Anyways, what I thought was funny is the Smart sat on the back the entire time we were there. Almost everyday they left to go somewhere, and always just took the rig, complete with smart still strapped on the back.

Most likely a Class A non-commercial.
CDL is only "for hire"

Everyone that I "know" has a class A non-commercial, unless they are an OTR driver for a living. A couple of them are LEOs, one in the commercial vehicle enforcement division!

There was another thread on this very topic and the big issue was the PA "Learner's Permit" and the 26 road hours with a driver with a Class A driver's license.
I don't even KNOW anyone with a Class A. I assume a CDL would not count (or would it?). My brother has a CDL and if that works it would solve that problem if I ever got a "Big Boy" and went full time.

If it's like Maryland, it would count. For us, the requirement is that license (e.g. class A non-commercial) "and above".
