2009 Forest River Georgetown 357QS Bunk

Hi all - I am new here but not to RVs (we are currently a trailer trailer owner). We are in the state of FL and looking at a 2009 Forest River Georgetown 357QS Bunk. The unit has about 19k miles (v10 gas) and about 380 hrs on generator. We are a family of 4 (2 kids - 8 and 10 years old). Any thoughts or experience with this model? We are possibly going to put this into a local reputable rental program to help offset some of the ownership costs. We plan to go look it over closer this weekend and any any input on this model is appreciated (things to watch for or specifically check). Thanks!

I'm guessing it is a Ford Chassis as that year they had both a workhorse chassis as well as a Ford Chassis.
380 hours is a lot of hours on the generator.
Whomever had the rig must have done lots of dry camping. Check the oil and see if it is fresh or old and dirty oil. That tells you if they maintained it.
Oil and filter changes are every 50 to 100 hours of use.

For a rig that age I would expect new batteries on engine as well as the coach. Est $125 -$150 each

Do they have any maintenance records on the engine, transmission and the generator?

Look underneath to see any engine leaks, transmission leaks, Hydralic levellers leaks and rear differencial.

Brakes pad condition?

Does it have steel rims or Aluminum?

How old are the tires? If they are original they may have cracking or damage and need to be replaced even with the low mielage.
Check the DOT date on the tires? "DOT 0612" This would mean it was manufactured in 2006 Dec.

Overall exteriro condition? Faded, body damage?

Will they give you any warranty?

Low retail for that rig with that mileage is about $65,000 in really good condition.
Make sure everything works well before you sign anything.

Found some time and went to see this MH yesterday. Overall very nice rig. Genny actually had 320 hours on it but all maint including recent new tires all around! For a Florida rig those genny hours can mean a lot of AC use. Records show use of Amsoil. House batts are due for replacement so factoring that in. No body damage, alum rims (with new Michelins 2011) and no leaks either at engine or hydraulics found. Guess it has been sitting for about 2 months but fired right up. One concern is a rip in the linoleum where the kitchen slide in evidently caught the floor once. It is pretty deep so need to research if and how much to repair that.
