2010 Georgetown 350 Power Cord conundrum

My 2010 GT came with 30 ft of 50 amp power cable crammed into a smaller underbody bay at the rear of the coach. Today I ask a local RV dealer parts department if there was such a thing as an after market reel that would help one train that unrully cord and make it into a much neater compartment. I was told No, there is not an after market reel available but you can buy one from the manufacturer of you rig for between $1500 and $2000.
I can put up with the inconvenience that the present mess causes me for that amount of money but since this info came from a dealer I am becoming trained to be a little skeptical. Has anyone heard of an "after market" reel that would work in our Georgetowns?

Thank you Bad1032
It always amazes me how resourcful RV'ers really are. They often know more than the dealers. Now that I think about iit why should I be amazed. After all the owners are the very people who recognize the needs of the RV'er and have looked into how to solve those issues.

If the electrical compartment on yours is anything like our 378, there more than likely isn't enough room in there to mount a reel system.

I have not had time as yet to get more information on these reels. I have to go to the company website and find out more.

Hi again
Here is a link to the reels that are for sale on RVupgrades.com. I am amazed at how compact they are. I will give this more consideration as my cord storage is an abominable disgrace.

I'm not sure how your cords are, but mine does not seem flexible enough to go around a reel, especially when it's cool. Would probably have to change it. Nice upgrade though.

I push my cord up onto the thru the bay storage. You can make large loops and it stores pretty well.

According to the website the reel comes wit 34 feet of 50 amp cord plus a pigtail. I would presume that the cord must be flexible enough to wrap around the reel as is shown in the picture. You are right about the cord that FR puts in our coaches; it is so stiff that it is impossible to store neatly. The outer wrap on the cord seems to be plastic as opposed to rubber which in my opinion would be more flexible.

Good suggestion johnnypal but I hate to waste all that storage for the sake of a cracker a**ed design concept.

In the link you provided their electric cord winder with 50 amp cord weighs 50# and the empty cordwinder weighs 22 # meaning the cord and pigtail they supply weighs 28 #.

I'm wondering what the thick black snake FR supplies weighs!
