2011 F53 and F59 suspension TSB
There is a Ford TSB, issued 06/01/2012 ref the brackets and bolts for the rear sway bar. I found the TSB after Ford RV customers service told me they had no knowledge of the issue and currentlly my 2011 360XL is in shop having both brackets and bolts and bushings replaced. My Ford dealer did not even know of this. The NHTSA NUMBER IS 10045065. I would urge all with 2010 and later to check the brackets on rear sway bars.

Rear Sway Bar Bolts
Just checked mine, and lo and behold, one is missing, the other almost missing. Have an appointment Tuesday to drop it off so they can "check it" They didn't seem to be aware of the problem or if it would be covered under warranty until I mentioned the TSB and then they said "oh it probably will be covered".

Fbconsults, I am sure they will cover it, It will not stop a trip, but I like having all my parts in working order. I figure that if these brackets did not serve a useful purpose, they would not have installed them. Safe travels.

Tsb
Got a call from Sunrise Ford in Fontana, CA, who has my motorhome because the rear sway bar bolts were missing and one loose. They told me the parts are on order and should be at the dealership today or tomorrow, get my motorhome back tomorrow afternoon or Friday.
I recommend everyone take a quick look at theirs and keep a check on them.

Thought I would bump this back to the top.
Had ours checked during the transmission recall.
Sure enough ALL swaybar bolts were loose.

Ford Recalling 13,239 F-59 and F-53 Stripped Chassis Vehicles
February 15, 2012
WASHINGTON – Ford Motor Co. is recalling more than 13,200 2011 model-year F-53 and F-59 stripped chassis vehicles manufactured from Feb. 1, 2010 through July 1, 2011 as well as 2012 model-year F-53 and F-59 stripped chassis vehicles manufactured from May 10, 2011 through Oct. 25, 2011.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the PRNDL cable may break at the attachment to the transmission control selector arm assembly mounted on the steering column. If the cable breaks, the transmission gear indicator in the PRNDL display in the instrument panel will remain in the first gear position regardless of the gear selected. As a result, the driver may be prevented from knowing whether the vehicle is actually in park or reverse. This poses a safety risk.
Ford will notify vehicle owners of the recall, and dealers will replace the transmission selector arm assembly and the PRNDL cable assembly. There will be no charge for this service. The safety recall is expected to begin the first week of March.
Vehicles owners can reach Ford at (866) 436-7332.

Just wanted to tell everyone that I found the rear swaybar bracket loose today. Passengers side rear clamp that has 2 bolts holding to axle. Drivers side rear was tight. I also checked the front and all was ok there.
I put some locktite liquid on them before retightening.

Iggy, you need to go to ford and have all new brackets and bolts replaced, I had one side tightened up and they still worked loose. My ford dealer stated that the original bolts are a fraction too long and need to be replaced. The rubber bushing can fall out if it works loose before you find it on a trip. Just peace of mind to have it all new, at no cost to you. Your call, just recommending, btw mine have been fine since replacement.

Thanks copsuno but we are heading out Sunday for a long trip. I will keep a close eye on it. If it comes loose I will find a Ford commercial truck dealer.
I was looking for the Ford TSB onthe bolt but can't find anything I can print out.
Do you have any good links to a page that says and shows the information?
Thanks

Iggy I do not have a printed version, the bolt length is what my dealer told me, the TSB is active though and dealership had to order all the parts, as all have stated though the replacement is free. When I first contacted Ford about this, on a Saturday, I was called back by a Tech from the company who told me that I could still drive without the sway bar, and I told him I could but I would not.

Just got back from my long 6,000 mile trip to Florida. I have found that my passemgers side rear swaybar bracket bolts started coming loose and had to tighten them up about 10 times during my trip.
The MH is now at Ford and they are correcting whatevere the TSB says to do. They said they are getting replacement bots ordered from Ford.
We should get it back by Wedneday next week and start getting ready for our next trip south of the border.

More swaybars coming loose
Well this is still popping up for many who have 2011 or 2012 F-53 Ford chassis.
Everyone should take a look in the rear swaybar condition and not loose or broken bolts or clamps.
Please check.

After getting back from vacation last week I rolled around under our Georgetown and found the loose bracket on the passenger side missing a bolt and nut. I pulled the remainng nut and bolt out and noticed thenit had a special sholder and headed to my Ford Dealer. I was told by the service manager that the Motorhome Dealer is supposed to check F53 chassis Motorhomes when they receive them for this during dealer prep; ours pre-daes the TSB so our dealer probablydid not have that info whe we bought new in August 2011. By-the-way this is covered under the 3 year 36000mile Ford Warranty.

Great!
All Georgetown owners should check the sway bars regularly.
Did they replace the bushings?
So far Ford has taken care of this under warranty.
I thought Ford would have released a statement by now but nothing other than that letter of warning for a few year models.

Check the CHASSIS year of manufacture, not your motor-home. Usually a year earlier.
